Twists and Plaits

Two months ago, I got a much needed haircut and color (thanks to Ariel Finley at HairBenders International, Chattanooga, TN) and I decided to get bangs which turned out really cute.  Bangs work when you are in a 'tamable' environment; however, in the Caribbean humidity this will never work...so I am now in the painful process of growing them out again.  What do you do in the annoying stage in between?! BRAIDS!

I am also in love with the fishtail braid, which works best on very long hair...I'm going to force my cosmetologist of a Mommy to do this for me this weekend!

Packing Light

With my impending flight ahead, I felt like it was as good a time as any to post on luggage.  I recently (January) bought a new carry on sized backpack from Deuter which has proved convenient on both weekend excursions and overseas long hauls. I highly recommend these lightweight form-fitting backpacks. If you haven't tried one on before...

In addition, I also purchased a duffle bag which allows me to cram as much as possible in every corner/zipper...

...although backpacks are not as fun/stylish as a nice totebag...

Specialty luggage tags

In Puerto Viejo, I noticed one store used vintage luggage as display cases which was a very neat recycling idea.  I want to make a luggage table so I researched to find more uses for vintage luggage...

Any other ideas for old luggage reworks?

JEWELS!  A new trend in jewelry is rose gold, a color that resembles a more pinkish toned copper.  The "in between" hue goes great with both gold and silver jewelry and most all colors of clothing.  I have been researching on Etsy for a rose gold, index finger ring and bracelet.  There are some beautiful items available!
